Fat Fanny Ale was Catfish Brewery’s first home brew. Inspired to take a honey brown to the next level, Fat Fanny Ale is brewed with organic honey and alfalfa. Alfalfa, not a traditional ingredient for beer, added a sweet bitterness and another dimension of hoppiness. With a successful first brew, Catfish Brewing Company was officially underway with more exciting brews to come!
Fat Fanny Ale is in memory of Betsy’s beloved yellow lab, Nana. Nana, short for Nanook or the Eskimo name for polar bear, really was quite a trim dog, however still acquired the nickname of Fat Fanny as an affectionate family name. Someday, if we drink enough Catfish Brewery brews, we’ll tell you how Fat Fanny became an affectionate nickname!
